Cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. [bug]

I am also experiencing this. I've never used this tool before and just now downloaded it, but I'm not able to run it.

It does appear to be a subset. Some drives appear normally. I would say about 75% of my recent drives display this behavior though.

Jumping in to share that I'm having this issue too. Server has a 1440p monitor at 100% scaling and I have a client with a 4k screen with 200% scaling....

Any updates on this issue? It's been a few months and this is still a daily struggle in my workflow.
