Oak itself builds against 5.2.1, perhaps they need to apply some changes to be compatible with newer versions: https://github.com/apache/jackrabbit-oak/blob/570914abab05341330f394d20cafcdcf60152e79/oak-parent/pom.xml#L60 . https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OAK-11170 might be related.
