This should now be fixed in 6dc7a11b09b5eea8f333805374ce0b45757e9539 which re-introduces an `autoplay` command-line option as a manual override.
Yes, this is a known issue that I intend to fix as part of the `new-api` efforts. At this point `librespot` does not report played tracks back to Spotify.

Are you sure? There is no mention of "event-service" in Spotifyd's repository, which is the endpoint that's known to report played tracks back to Spotify. Spotifyd isn't a fork, but...
