What is the status on this? The workaround seems like it is leaving a lot of people unsatisfied, though it appears to work.

I am seeing a very similar issue with Safari and the latest version of plotly.js. You can recreate the bug by going to https://atlas.kpmp.org/explorer, then click on the first link...
