This probably does not warrant any specific milestone for now as it's just testing... This seems a good task for someone who wants to start getting familiar with the codebase...

I keep this open as it can probably be solved as we improve how plugins are developed/handled, in particular with having more interactions between related plugins for io/bin/core, etc.

The bug is still present. It now works when using `|`, but not when using `~`.
