Sidetiq is no longer maintained but we could use something as simple as [`Rails.cache.fetch`](https://guides.rubyonrails.org/caching_with_rails.html#low-level-caching)
Guess that's better as it means we don't get a slow page load for the first request after the cache has expired.

Updated the description with a list of requirements.
I think what's going on here is that the previous state of the inbox page is being held by Turbolinks after it loads and so it doesn't reload the page...
@nilsding has set up an elasticsearch cluster we can use
