Actually, that doesn't surprise me. That is pretty typical when a file format changes. When you are running 3.x, the device expects the file to follow the new file format....

One word of warning, if you have notebooks that were opened using version 3.x and you downgrade, you cannot open those notebooks in 2.x. Notebooks opened using 3.x automatically upgrade...
