Not sure, but what's the output from the progress box (with the blue bar). Click on the arrow near 'Details'. It might give some useful info.

I also downloaded the portable version for WIndows and tried that and it DOES show an error dialog; So there IS a problem with the Linux version. 
I've figured out the problem. For some reason drag n drop is not enabled for network locations as I just tried drag n drop in a fresh install of Kubuntu...
