kube2iam crashes when annotated pod in EKS tries to access S3 in another AWS account

Still stuck on this? I have a similar error. Might be related to #241 ?

Still happening with `v5.17.0` but the timeout is now 10 minutes thanks to #27422

How come more people aren't hitting this? it's (almost) a show-stopper in my org. :-(
