What is the expected input in the private key field

I found i had to use the following format, including the 'begin' and 'end' lines. -----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY----- private key in here -----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----

I should mention that i've tried editing the various taxonomies and custom post types code on lines 353 onwards in controllers/wp.php but with no success.. broke the site.
