I failed to merge this PR when we were working on SDK 2.0. 😞 Unfortunately, since this is a breaking change we cannot merge this unless we start working on...

Looks like I wrote some not-very-robust assertions in the OTLP exporter tests. I'll follow up with a PR to fix this so we can release.

https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-js/pull/5068 will fix the failing tests here. :) And also the changelog entries that I put in the wrong spot.

Huh, looks like the W3C integration test setup is failing. I'll look into it.
