I encountered the same issue when trying to install Ruby 3.0.1 and Ruby 3.0.2 on Ubuntu 21.10. I was able to get 3.0.2 installed installing and setting as default Ruby...
Rereading the original request, realise that MMM might be more sensible. Will modify and will also fix the linting error.
