You would be correct here - nearly all the checks are geared up to test the parent theme and child theme is barely (if at all) checked with the current...
This idea seems reasonable (maybe even the responsible thing to do) to me, bonus points if the warning message is friendly and inviting instead of scary :)
I have some idea of how checks could be flagged for different types of themes but I have no idea how I would write a block validator :thinking:

Sorry, I should have said `block markup validator`. Missing a word means it becomes a whole other, much bigger, thing haha
I have some work related to this issue inside of #129.
@timelsass I can update the page if we come up with a more correct wording for it. The current text is `Include comments.php (via comments_template()).` which I agree is incorrect.
