Translator needed!
Course Generator is currently translated in French and English. If you want to translate CG in your language, please leave a comment bellow or contact me.
Translating CG is not difficult. Just one text file with around 700 lines to translate.
under what license it's this software published? I can't find it...
Hi, GPL V3 (as mentioned in the readme.md)
Hi! I want to help with portuguese translation! Should I do just like the ES translation and create a folder for the MD files?
Hola (the only word I know in Portugues :) ) you are welcome,
Two translation tasks can be done:
-
The software translation, in this case the best it's to translate " Bundle.properties" that you can find in "src/course_generator". If you want to work from the spanish file (Bundle_es_ES.properties), please wait a little because in past I used a tool to edit the translation that change the order of all the entries. I solve the problem with english files but not for the French and the Spanish files.
-
The documentation, in this case create a copy of the "en" folder in the "doc" folder and the translate it
The software translation is the most important. Use an editor that handle UTF-8 (read and write).
Actually it'd be olá in portuguese haha thats spanish ^^ pretty similar, though! I was hoping to translate from the english files. Is one of the translations more important/urgent than the other? I can do both, it will just take a little big longer. So if one is more urgent I'll do it first.
First translate "Bundle.properties". It's the most important. It's in English. Rename the file as "Bundle_pt_PT.properties". Then 2 solutions:
- Your are able to generate a pull request, do it.
- Your are not able to generate a pull request, just send me the file by email (my email is the about box of the software).
I need to modify the software in order to add Portuguese in the setting of Course Generator. I'll do it this week.
I just added the Portuguese as a supported language in CG. "Bundle_pt_PT.properties" contain the english translation. Work from this file.
Quick question. Does pt_pt means portuguese Portugal? Cause I'm actually from Brazil! So that would be pt_br ;)
Currently, as for other language (French, English and Spanish), I try to be "global" and not managing the variants of a language. I think that the texts in the software are common (I hope) to all variants of a language. So, in your translation, try to understandable by every "Portuguese" speaking person.
The only problem with this solution is that the automatic system to select the language in CG doesn't works with the variants and you need to select it manually in the settings.
