Yeah, I have been able to reproduce the issue with emacs-plus@27 as well. Also, since I last commented, I've been using the latest macports version of Emacs and this issue...
It isn't automatic though. You have to type `fmt.`, press ctrl+shift+F to format, and then press ctrl+space to get suggestions, for example.

@cisco87, this behavior is built-in for Debian-based systems, and some other operating systems. For examples, you can check the `manifests/repos` directory.
