In https://github.com/pardeike/Harmony/tree/feature/monomod-core I am moving over to MonoMod.Core which means that we will get the chance to patch native methods in the future. I will remove the WONTFIX.

I am here to second EXACTLY this use case. If it would just auto-check the found usb stick (remember the checkbox) it would allow for completely attention free operations.

Does this happen with the non-thin version too? If so, you are not supplying the correct dependencies.

For reference, I am as I type, using Harmony 2.3.3 on my MacBook Air M2 with RimWorld just fine.
