I've also observed situations where sematable shows "no data" sort of message, but then a few seconds later the actual data loads. So +1 for a PR.

Why not move it to bottom-right as you suggested?  

This doesn't look quite right... If there is > 1 page worth of rows, and we are showing 5 rows per page, then bottom-right should say "Showing 5 of N"...
