GUI is a nightmare

This seems to be a really powerful tool, but the GUI is a nightmare. Totally and utterly unusable, at least for me. Installation was no problem and I got the indexer to index files in a directory - fine. Deleting the index via commandline - no problem. I even found access to the django console to delete file indexer entry. Why there is no delete button within the search-apps/files/ section where directories are entered I don't understand. Why the indexer starts indexing the directory right away, after I have removed the directory via django console I don't understand either. There just seems no way to stop it. I would have liked to clean the index and and start indexing another directory. Documentation was also not helpful with this. As I said, this seems to be a really powerful tool, but it's missing the handles to make it useful. Sorry, I'm really frustrated with this and I'm giving up.

I have the same opinion, this looks like it could be a really awesome search engine as it has a lot of powerful features but the web interface is a pain in the ass to work with it, there should be options to delete a file or folder from within the web interface, also options to blacklist keywords, files and urls from the web interface, those are basic tasks that need to be done to have a useful search engine. Also, it seems like there is no way to exclude results from a search like in Google where you can use a - sign before a word to exclude it, the documentation is awful as it's a mess to navigate and there are even parts of the documentation where one thing is written and in other part it says something different about the same thing.

I have a similar opinion, that Semantic Search is a very powerful tool, and it is very hard to get the benefits because the UI is not fully predictable. And there is a lot of documentation available, that would benefit so much for simplification to have the most important functions working at the top and postpone the ones that seem like frills. I wrote to the developer and I was not lucky to get an answer, to the question regarding streamlining UI to do what the feature set provides.
