What is the bug or the crash? What were your expectations and what actually happened?

Hi, trying to edit a read-only layer activates editing on the uppermost editable layer. This is quite confusing and could lead to the input of incorrect data.

Steps to reproduce the issue

trying to edit a read-only layer --> activates editing on the uppermost editable layer

Version

Operating system name

iOS

Operating system version

latest

Reinstall QField

  • [ ] I have a fresh install of the latest QField version, but the problem persists.
  • [ ] Problem can be reliably reproduced, doesn't happen randomly.
  • [ ] Problem happens with all files and projects, not only some files or projects.

@andrea-bistacchi , could you make a screencast video of the steps you take here? What is happening isn't super clear to me bested on the provided description. Thanks.

Hi, I don't know how to make a video on the iPad while using QField. And I think the video will be too heavy to be loaded on GitHub.

Anyway the steps are the following:

On an iPad.

With a project with a mix of raster MBTiles, locked SHP, and editable SHP files.

You press the edit (pencil) tool with a non editable SHP selected.

A message pops up saying that it is not editable (ok, good).

BUT the first editable layer goes in editing, and this can lead to nasty errors if you do not immediately go back to browsing.

As I said in another issue, I was in the field so I did not give feedback on this for a while, but the issue is still open for me.

Thanks!
