Yeah this seems like a Markdown.jl issue, not a problem with Documenter. But changing this could be a breaking change... There's probably a bunch of existing links in the wild...

I'm not necessarily against making this change, because it looks like all those are unintentional, but it's still a tradeoff to consider.
