I followed the installation manual, but I did not find config files. "Copy both config files into your home directory" what did you mean by config files, please?

Initially I had a problem with permissions, I chmod 777 on both files and the .my.cnf was being ignored. I discovered I needed to set permission to 644, and after this, it worked just fine. Thank you for this.
