Oh I thought this was just my installation acting up. I could have sworn that this was working for me before switching to lua for my configuration.

Appears to me like they're using [fzf](https://github.com/junegunn/fzf) with a preview window inside a floating terminal like [Floaterm](https://github.com/voldikss/vim-floaterm) inside neovim.
