I've already got some fun ideas for things to do with the API, and I imagine others do as well.

What do you want the API to support? Should we just copy this unofficial HN API format? http://api.ihackernews.com/

That would be as good a place as any to start. I think the first couple things I'd like to see would be:

  • getting the front page,
  • posting new links (I realize this one requires authorization, so it might be more of a pain, but it would allow things like posting links from an IRC bot - which is one of the things I've got in mind)
