@Edzelf I'm afraid i do not fully understand "the inversion of pin 15". I'm not using pin 15 at all. What pin could i use for CS?

@Edzelf Debug output shows gpio 5 and 16 are both high. I ran the software update and now when it gets to the read/write registers it says vs1053 not properly...

@edzelf I did but nothing changed. The nodemcu light pulses about every second a network search shows esp radio is not on my network.

Unlikely. The network name worked fine for the esp32 radio project. Maybe i'll stick with esp32 radio.
