This will probably cause some breakage, yeah. It's a bigger codebase, but I think this would be good to try in poetry itself first since it has no consumers outside...
If I'm not mistaken, python-poetry/poetry#5590 should have fixed this in a more proper way. Could you please test against the latest master and report back?
