Thanks, the reproduction works for me. Looking at the differences between 6.4 and 6.4.1, [this line](https://github.com/nedbat/coveragepy/commit/4b592fe30a7ebf871ba9a3d883ec955dae198c15#diff-68a483552b5cf650f43e371e28ef86ba13f3958e93bc1587c3cb7afad0397f24R517) causes the problem: ``` frame->f_trace_lines = 0; ```
I guess setting that to zero is telling pdb that the frame shouldn't be involved in debugging also. I wonder if there's a way to have our cake and eat...
I have not put any work into this. BTW: one of the reasons people prefer spaces to tabs is because it avoids having to add a tab-size feature to everything...
Oh, looks like this issue was a duplicate of #1383, which is fixed in pull #1387, and released as part of [coverage 7.0.0b1](https://pypi.org/project/coverage/7.0.0b1). Can you give it a try?
