Okay, so this actually works correctly using my system's SDL (version 3.2.20). This may be related https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/issues/11453.
The problem doesn't appear with the 0.55.5 flatpak
Note that the team selection menu and the gun/starting class selection menu work normally as well.
With my system SDL (3.2.20), this works correctly. The prebuilt SDL 3.2.22 triggers the bug.
