@chienleng is `type` safe to remove? how about `code`? they're both only there for v2 backwards-compat reasons. None of the BE or python client use them (they're actually aliases!)

btw `start` and `last` vs `start` and `end` or `first` and `last` has always bugged me even github co-pilot fills in `end` 😆
