I'm experiencing the same problem. I tried changing the "metadata_to_use" (from albumartist to artist), but that didn't seem to help. I'm running MPDroid 1.08 beta 4 and MPD 0.18.12.

While playing around, I enable the _album cache_ (the _cover cache_ was already enabled), and now covers are showing up properly.

Would it be possible to release a new version of the app with this change in?
