Definitely +1 -- this would make it much simpeler to deploy applications that are, for example, based on `php:7-fpm`.

@errm Sockets are, in theory, a bit faster than using TCP, but TCP is way more scalable by default. With solutions like Docker Swarm combined with the service discovery capabilities...
