It does not matter whether the **external** terminal is opened using a hotkey or using the command palette. The **internal** terminal is not affected, i.e. `Ctrl+C` works there.

I have never seen such artifacts with fonts set like  Does it still occur with #12367?

Cannot reproduce neither with current dev build nor with 5.0 portable with default settings. Might it depend on the font used?
