If the task isn't running, then shouldn't the task be allowed to retried as defined in the task retry stanza? In that case, I feel https://github.com/hashicorp/nomad/blob/main/client/allocrunner/taskrunner/template/template.go#L517-L520 is an unnecessary action...

Can you post the complete logs under `journalctl -xeu [email protected]`?
