Seems you are close. Not sure it is getting to your expected channel on your mumble server. I used Root in my case.
Are you communicating between two pi units? Could be sample rate confusion. Is your .asoundrc file correct? "If you are listening to the channel via mumble.com on your PC or...
@sensboston I paid for a mumble.com subscription for a remote mumble server.
From memory I was only able to get the push button to work with Raspberry Lite Stretch and work arounds.
