Any word on this? Does a bug need to be filed upstream?
I want to be able to parse feeds with illegal characters, so I've opened #206 to see how we should handle this.

I agree @Necoro -- this is probably outside of what I'd consider normal. For this, I'd do as you suggested and have them create their own http.Client with this behavior.
I think I want to do this, but I want to separate any "mixed" parsing as an option that you can control with strictness settings.
I think this has been resolved by @cristoper 's latest patch to XPP + gofeed. If someone runs into this again, please let me know and I'll re-open the issue.

I've been considering making date parsing optional, and perhaps having two degrees: 1. Parse the formats specified by the specs (strict) 2. Attempt to parse the myriad of date formats...
