Smile is not working on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

I have been using Smile on Ubuntu 22.04.4 and it was working fine and great. I have recently switched to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Smile doesn't seem to work. I have attached screen recording for your reference. I'm able to open smile and when I click an emoji it is neither getting copied to clipboard nor getting pasted. I also have installed Smile - complementary extension for GNOME.

Using X11 and not Wayland

I had the same problem with the app with Gnome (Wayland).

I had originally compiled Smile myself, and had the problem with it. Smile as a flatpak works as it should.

~Same on Pop!_OS 22.04. It has never worked for me. I'm guessing it's related to #76 #78.~

~If I could just copy the emojis it prints out that would be a great workaround.~

In my case, PEBKAC. Once you click or shift-click the emojis you must Ctrl-V once the program disappears. I did not understand the program's function, which is to copy the selections to the clipboard. πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡βœ¨οΈ
