just want to add that the difference seems to be xorg session vs wayland session. on ubuntu 17.10 gnome xorg session this works but on gnome wayland session this does...
i second this, the flatpak version is not usable on ubuntu - slow as hell at refreshing changes in my repos(on disk) maybe the best would be to setup auto...
