Range could be improved by just moving the device to stage. As everything is embedded in the box and IP based the physical placement of the TA server doesn't matter

I see that @hrueger updated a visca library for node. Would that stable enough to use for this purpose?

This feature is already in the latest version. When you add an atem switcher you can choose which ME to monitor. If you mean something else, please specify further
