If you use a RPi1, it could be, that normal raspbian does not have the certificates installed to download from github https pages. OSMC on RPi2 seems to allow that...

Try sudo apt-get install ca-certificates

Can you try to edit the script and add the --no-check-certificate parameter to the wget commands? Please report if it works then and I will add it.

Activate it in the kodi addon preferences. It is deactivated after installation since kodi 17

You have to enable the addon itself. Newly installed addons from unknown sources are disabled by default since Kodi 17.

You will get a much broader audience when posting in the retrosmc thread at discourse.osmc.tv The OSMC devs will read it there, too.
