What's left to do on this? I'd really like to use the m6g instances which I'm guessing are a similar problem? I'm happy to contribute to the solution and help...

I kinda got it working today, but the yubico-piv-tool -a status hangs.

Looking through the commit, this looks vastly overcomplicated and highly intrusive. I'm not sure when I can actually review this entire commit, but I was hoping from our email thread...

Agree with @demobox, I'll take a deeper look tomorrow. Wanna take a stab at trying to avoid the new annotations?

Does this need to remain open? Can we close this now that we're looking at starting this work in labs?

This looks good to me, and I think would benefit from the more complex example from @lozbrown , this gives a more realistic configuration for a production usecase.
