I intended to implement Bukkit-like & formatting codes at some point, but never got around to finishing it. If I remember correctly, https://github.com/cuberite/cuberite/pull/4501 looked fine visually, but wasn't implemented correctly...
Still needs work.
This is not abandoned, but I have some other priorities right now.
