Added ability to use a custom method for adding items, rather than append/replace. Good for use with other libraries such as masonry or isotope.

So that the $.path.addSearchParams is not only adding, but also updating existing. Optionally, add $.path.updateSearchParams. This is useful for both here and latest changes to subsites (https://github.com/silverstripe/silverstripe-subsites/pull/90/files)
@adrexia what was it with the static publisher that you had to hack? The URL had to go to "/.html" instead of "?start=" or something like that? Ta :)
