Version 0.8 don't work under El Capitan?
If the developer needs an Apple signature and must be an registered Mac developer - I suggest to make this driver as shareware. I had no problem to buy it.
I use DriveDX, but DriveDX needs this SMART driver too. Drive-DX offers a SMART driver download. A co-working would be the best way.

I use Yosemite and 0.8 too and it works well. All my external HDs are supported. I don't know what we can do that Apple put 0.10 in the well...
Yes I remeber :-) I will wait for upgrading to Sierra and look for other problems with. I have installed macports too.
@yifuhood Bad news! Off topic - its recommend to use two backups, an old admin adage: 'one backup are non-backup' I use two USB HDs for my TM backup alternately....
