I tried to reproduce this by installing ubuntu 20.04 on VirtualBox (Host: Intel mac), without installing any display drivers/"guest additions cd", but the bqplot-image-gl Lines (and SpecViz) work for me....

We can also have an array with values, and we upload that to the shader as texture.
