Done. However, this brought back the linter fail for CI. (I suspect current master could not pass the CI)

Any plan for this to be implemented? Sounds like a non-breaking change approach similar to what vault does would be pretty safe to implement. i.e: Providing an extra query parameter...

Sorry, I don't have a sample anymore. But iirc, it might have been because we had linkTos enabled and it was linking to already scavenged events.
