Still Maintained?
Hi there!
I've seen no changes nor releases in the past months. Is this project still maintained or is there a plan to deprecate it?
I was looking at the status of Devpod and found development fell off a cliff in April. Then Loft Labs announced rebranding as vCluster Labs on August 15th. My guess is focus was moved from development to rebranding.
Needing to pull developer resources to rebranding for longer than a week to run sed -i s/oldname/newname/g on all the files and kick off some CI builds is itself concerning.
I am also keen to know vCluster's plans for the future of Devpod.
Devpod is a great tool that I use frequently for managing my development workspaces across hosts and I would very much like to see this project remain active. If the original maintainers do not have plans to continue with this project (please speak up), I would be interested in contributing to a community-maintained version where pull requests and bug fixes can be merged. If maintainers are needed to help with this, I am willing to volunteer some time during the week.
In case folks are looking for similar tools that are actively maintained for managing development workspaces, I have come across code-server, devenv, and devbox.
Judging by some of the chatter in Slack, seems like the focus is currently on vCluster. As of August 6th I saw this:
