Ignoring the lack of Wayland support, I'd say the biggest issue would be that unlike Sixel or Kitty (I'm pretty sure w3m supports it too), ueberzug cannot have its images...

I recall getting that same error, although it didn't seem to cause me any issues. Out of curiosity, are you using proprietary Nvidia graphics?
