Is this functionality already present? I switch to variable pitch for programming and the completion popups are (expectedly) messed up.
What emacs functionality should be followed for that? Can I support the development of this feature in any way?
x-show-tip would be quite platform specific to make it look nice. Is it possible to render offside buffers to images/pixmaps? The tooltip then could just show this.
I know auto-complete does not use it, still an awesome feature. Should these be implemented as another frontend? The wrapping happens, when the presently typed word grows and gets moved...
You are able to just overwrite single faces inside your emacs config, so you wouldn't have to keep the whole version along and can just use upstream.

Exactly, I tried looking into the source configurations but have not found the difference, maybe you can point me at the attribute to set?
