Updating to 0.6.4 (or later)?

It looks like there are several pretty active forks of this package, some of which seem to be forks of 37signals' fork, which updated the version number to 0.6.4 in...

Is this project still active? This vs https://github.com/ekmartin/slack-irc?

I'm inclined to stick with established vs new projects.... Is this plugin still under active development? If so, what advantages would you say it offers over https://github.com/ekmartin/slack-irc ?
