I think watching the (proxy) service (of type [ExternalName](https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/services-networking/service/#externalname) or containing [externalIPs](https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/services-networking/service/#external-ips) for changes and then updating the VCL could be a suitable approach....
