The Bink player part was re-implemented using shaders by SaiyansKing iirc. this may have something to do with this. I will take a look at it.

The performance on older hardware will only degrade the more the renderer implements and fixes. e.g. Rendering the ghosts correctly and flushing state to fix water textures on the ground...

i guess the only one that knows this for sure would be @ataulien. But that would require some time and dedication from his side.
